*With the dawn of a new era of existence, the year 2000 has embraced the horror society with tentacles of debauchery. I, Mistress Skinwalker666, got such an embrace from the original monster himself, Eerie Von. Mistress Karen and myself are the keepers of The Dark Sleep--a Yahoo club dedicated to Mr. Von--and we got an in-depth 13 Q&A interview each. Eerie has been more than cooperative as well as very gracious, who has also bent over backwards for his fans. I've been a fan since the early days of Samhain to his current solo endeavors, and to have this honor of interviewing him is beyond the virus of language.*
1st Revelation: Hail Master Von! As co-founder of "The Dark Sleep", the 1st and only Yahoo club dedicated to the original monster, Eerie Von...how do you feel about having such a tribute to yourself?
EV: i am greatly honored. thanks for the support.
2nd Revelation: How was the response to your first band apart from Danzig, Big House, and to your recent solo works?
EV: response to rosemary's babies was minimal, but it did get glenn's attention. samhain was always a bit misunderstood and i understand that since it was right after the misfits. danzig took a few years to catch on, but was never given the proper respect it was due from the industry. bighouse was just a short lived experiment for me to work on my singing and song writing. we only did a few gigs and never released any material. it wasn't a real band or anything, just a project.
3rd Revelation: One big question we've been wanting to know is--why you didn't have a part in the Samhain reunion tour? (could you also elaborate on your feelings of the reunion in the first place and on the forthcoming boxset.)
EV: reunions are fine if that's what you're into, but i didn't feel and still don't feel that it would have been right for me to do something i wasn't into. we were talking about the boxset as far back as 10 years ago. i don't know anything about it.
4th Revelation: Would you give us a band-time line of your past musical
experiences...starting with the first band you were in, and what are you most
proud concerning your musical accomplishments during this time?
EV: i'm most proud of the 3rd samhain record, the 2nd and 3rd danzig records, and my two post danzig releases.
5th Revelation: Most people not familiar with your musical past, are not aware you were
once a drummer with Rosemary's Babies...do you still have a passion for it?
EV: i have a passion for all things musical, and i have been playing the drums again for the past year or so. all the drum tracks on my upcoming cd were done by me.
6th Revelation: What do you think of the resurrection of the Misfits and their new creation, Famous Monsters? Do you have contact with Jerry or Doyle?
EV: we are in contact with the misfits and have been for the last 5 years. we see them often and support them completely. i'm glad to see they're carrying on and always improving. i dig their new record and the singer is very good.
7th Revelation: Does your musical taste vein into black metal? If so, what's your opinion on the black metal movement and the whole controversial, racial themes bands of this genre portray?
EV: i'm not racially or politically motivated, and the whole black metal scene has been around for so long i don't see it as a movement any longer, but a genre that is very valid.
8th Revelation: If you could create your own legendary band, with musicians you respect and admire, who would your band line up consist of?
EV: i would pick players and singers so much more talented than i, so there would be no need for me to be involved.
9th Revelation: Who's one of your favorite classic horror monsters and movies?
EV: i'm a big phantom of the opera (lon chaney sr) as well as frankenstein (boris karloff) and the wolfman. one of my favorite horror films is the raven. also dig "angel heart" with robert deniro and mickey rourke.
10th Revelation Do you have contact with your ex-bandmates--CHUCK :), John and Glenn?
Could you give us an update and opinion on their current projects?
EV: no, but from what i understand glenn's got a new record out as does john, and i haven't heard anything about chuck.
11th Revelation: What's your favorite piece outta your horror figure collection? The most unique?
EV: my collection is so vast, naming one item would be impossible. my favorites change from day to day.
12th Revelation: Eons from now, since we know evil never dies...often, what would your tombstone say about your life and where/who would you lie next to?
EV: i haven't decided what my epithet will read, but i'll come up with something kool, and of course i will lie next to my lovely wife for all eternity.
13th Revelation: And finally...if you could get into the ring and box/wrestle anyone in the world, who would it be? *besides Karen and I--the founders of The Dark Sleep* :)
EV: i would not make such an attempt.
*Thanks for your time and cooperation with this Eerie, much appreciated!! Your Biscuit loving friend, Mistress Skinwalker666*
EV: thank you very much for always being so supportive. feel free to e mail any time. later, EV
